After School Buddy Program
Help supervise and mentor elementary students in an after school program at their school. Any time between 2:30 and 5:30pm. Play games, help with homework, be a mentor. A highly flexible opportunity.
Adopt-a-Class Program
Volunteer in one classroom throughout the semester and support the teacher’s work by tutoring, mentoring, reading to students, and/or helping to plan field trips and class parties. This program can be big or small depending on your availability and interests.
Special Projects Program
You or your group can commit to doing occasional special projects at a local school. For example: help judge reading fair or science fair projects, or pitch in at a school-wide holiday festival. You would be “on call” for special projects and would contribute when you could.
Grace House
A transitional living facility for people living with HIV-AIDS
Cook or deliver supper to residents, or host a cookout or holiday party.
Good Samaritan Center
A non-profit social service agency
Volunteer by sorting clothes, organizing donated items, or cleaning up the grounds.
You can also assist clients by helping them shop in the Good Samaritan store.
Stewpot
A food distribution facility for the homeless
Volunteer for an hour to serve lunch, donate clothes or help organize the clothing closet, or spend time once a week with children in the after-school program.
Matt’s House
A Stewpot-operated house for homeless women and children
Host a dinner or party for residents, or hold a clothing drive to provide residents with nicer and less worn clothes. Help the children at the shelter with their homework, or read or play games with them in the afternoons. Teach a brief seminar on financial budgeting, computers, or another relevant topic.
Sims House
A transitional shelter for women and children
Help with parenting classes, nutrition classes, Bible study, or career development classes.
MS Children’s Home
An educational and recreational program for kids
Host a field day, one of the monthly birthday parties for the children, an arts and crafts event, or a pick-up game.

An art exhibition and music performance studio
Host an art class, art show, or teach a seminar.

A community support agency in West Jackson
Become a mentor in their after-school program.
North Midtown Community Development Corporation
An economic and neighborhood development agency
Pitch in where needed–for example, conducting homeowner surveys, helping write a neighborhood newsletter, or serving cotton candy at a neighborhood street party.
Meals on Wheels
A non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the independence and well-being of seniors
Deliver meals to the elderly/disabled in Midtown.
