Presidential Search

The Millsaps College Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Committee are currently taking applications and nominations for the next president of the College. The selection of the 11th president of the College is one of the most important responsibilities of the Board. In his inaugural address as Millsaps College's first president, William Belton Murrah said that students at Millsaps would receive the "widest range of investigation and research and the fullest recognition of the truth wherever found."

Today, Millsaps is a point of pride for the region and the only nationally ranked private liberal arts college in Mississippi. Millsaps College seeks a new president whose energetic, creative and visionary leadership will serve to strengthen and expand the College's resources, reinforce its commitment to excellence in liberal arts and business education, enhance the College's visibility and recognition by key audiences, and assist the college community in identifying and pursuing its strategic goals.

A search committee was formed in the summer of 2009 to begin the search for the next president of Millsaps. Dr. Frances Lucas announced her resignation in the spring and is currently on sabbatical. The search committee has trustee, faculty, staff, student and alumni representation. It is hoped that the next president can be identified within the next few months and be prepared to assume the office of the president by July 1, 2010.
