Presidential Scholarship, John Sweat Scholarship
Megan Malone of Hattiesburg was the 2005 recipient of two coveted scholarships awarded by Millsaps College: a Presidential scholarship and the John Sweat music scholarship. She is currently a sophomore majoring in music with a piano concentration.
She is a member of the music honorary, Mu Phi Epsilon, a writer for the school newspaper, The Purple and White, and a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Malone chose Millsaps because of the strong degree programs. "I knew my options would be open so that I could get a good undergraduate foundation in just about anything I chose to do," she said. "But frankly, if it weren't for the generosity of the donors who have provided my scholarship money, I wouldn't have been able to come to Millsaps."
She is enjoying her college experience at Millsaps because of the close relationships with her professors and their willingness to help students. She loves the small environment which makes everything personal, not to mention the caf's ice-cream, which she highly recommends.
"Although I've only been here a short time, I feel like Millsaps is my home, and I can't imagine being anywhere else. I am deeply thankful for the help I've received," she said.
