Psychology
The Millsaps Psychology Department is committed to the goal of cultivating majors with a broad base of knowledge in psychology to prepare students for advanced graduate study in psychology, to provide a background for entry into one of the advanced professional schools (e.g., law, medicine, business, education), or to enable the student to receive a broad liberal arts education. As one of the largest majors on campus, this department has an outstanding track record of preparing and placing students in prestigious graduate programs. The undergraduate psychology curriculum emphasizes the understanding of human diversity, an appreciation and application of the scientific method, and the use of critical thinking skills within a beyond the domains of psychology.
