Millsaps College offers pre-nursing in cooperation with University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC) School of Nursing:
3 + 2 Early Entry Program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Complete nearly all of the requirements for a Millsaps degree in three years (three academic years plus two summers), then enter UMC School of Nursing for a two-year program leading to the BSN degree. Upon completion of the BSN, up to 12 hours of selected nursing school courses may be transferred back to Millsaps to fulfill the requirement for the BS or BA degree at Millsaps.
Students wishing to be considered for the 3 + 2 early entry program at UMC must identify themselves to the Director of Nursing Programs at Millsaps early in the first semester of the freshman year. These students will complete all or nearly all of the courses required for a degree at Millsaps, and the prerequisite courses for the UMC nursing program in three years, then transfer to UMC School of Nursing to complete two years of study toward the BSN. Up to 12 hours of approved nursing school courses may be transferred back to Millsaps to complete the Bachelor's degree. At the end of the program, the student will have earned a Bachelor's degree from Millsaps and a BSN from UMC.
Students may also complete a 4-year Bachelor's degree from Millsaps and apply to the UMC nursing program through the standard procedure set forth in the UMC Bulletin (PDF).
