Millsaps College offers two programs in cooperation with UMC School of Nursing, a 2+2 program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a 3 + 2 year program leading to a bachelor’s degree in an academic major from Millsaps and a BSN from UMC.
2+2 program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Students wishing to be considered for the 2+2 early entry program at UMC must identify themselves to the Director of Nursing Programs at Millsaps early in the first semester of the freshman year. Students will take the prerequisite science and humanities courses at Millsaps (about 4 semesters). Under the early entry plan, students who complete the program with a 3.0 GPA in all prerequisite courses at Millsaps will be admitted to the nursing program at UMC, where they will enter a 2-year course of study toward the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. A minimum total of 63 semester hours is required.
3 + 2 program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Students wishing to be considered for the 3+2 early entry program at UMC must identify themselves to the Director of Nursing Programs at Millsaps early in the first semester of the freshman year. These students will complete all or nearly all of the courses required for a degree at Millsaps, and the prerequisite courses for the UMC nursing program in 3 years, then transfer to UMC School of Nursing to complete 2 years of study toward the BSN. Up to 12 hours of approved nursing school courses may be transferred back to Millsaps to complete the Bachelor’s degree. At the end of the program, the student will have earned a Bachelor’s degree from Millsaps and a BSN from UMC.
Students may also complete a 4-year bachelor’s degree from Millsaps and apply to the UMC nursing program through the standard procedure set forth in the UMC Bulletin.
