Each of the workshops will draw from the business disciplines – accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing – and will showcase the aspect of international business. Examples of workshops include:

In addition to offering workshops, the first week will include visits to and from local representatives of firms that conduct business internationally.
The Second Week (in Yucatan):
During the second week of the two-week program, students will travel to the Else School’s Center for Business and Culture in Yucatan. Located in Merida, the capital of Yucatan, the Center offers an excellent opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the culture of a developing market.
Here, students will visit governmental authorities who can talk about the challenges of doing business in Yucatan and the goals of the country for foreign investors. Students will also study an agrarian culture and subsistence farming. Students will also study the culture of the area by visiting the Millsaps owned Helen Moyers Biocultural Reserve which incorporates an excellently preserved major Maya city. In addition, students will study the effects of trade on the economy, focusing on the import/export business. Here, students will visit the Port of Progresso, one of the world’s largest piers to discuss import/exports from the region.
Why else should you attend?
In addition to receiving two-weeks of hands-on instruction in international business, students successfully completing the program will receive an International Business Advantage Certificate from Millsaps College which will be distinguishable on any resume or transcript. While in Jackson and Yucatan, students will also enjoy the benefits of both locations.
In their free time, students will enjoy a variety of fun activities each day. During their first week at Millsaps, the group will experience the best that both Jackson and Millsaps have to offer through trips to the Mississippi Braves game, bowling, movie night in Millsaps’ Bowl, etc. While in Yucatan, they will have the unique opportunity to take part in the culture of Mexico by venturing to the market and other native attractions.
