About Jackson
Jackson's rich, thriving cultural
community is the perfect setting for intellectual
growth and, of course, FUN.
When you're ready for a study break, Jackson offers plenty of options. A city of over
425,000, Jackson embodies a unique blend of restaurants, shopping,
museums and more. At our many music venues, you can hear the latest
local and national bands or simply relax to some authentic down-home Blues.
Although we're a metropolitan city, the great outdoors is
just minutes from campus. Lefleur's Bluff State Park has 500
acres of golfing, fishing, boating, and hiking. Other State Parks and recreation areas are within an hour's drive from the capital city. And if you're itching for a road trip, New Orleans, Memphis, and
the Gulf Coast are just a few hours away.
Opening Hearts, Minds and Doors
Millsaps is proud to be a United Methodist
College: the Methodists of Mississippi have been partners
with the College since its beginning in 1890. When Major Millsaps
challenged the church to match his $50,000 to found the College,
Bishop Charles Galloway led the efforts to meet that challenge.
The Methodist Church has continuously and faithfully supported the College by sending
students, providing leadership, and offering scholarships funded each year by an apportionment.
"Millsaps is truly blessed by its ongoing
relationship with the United Methodist Church."
- President Frances Lucas
