Millsaps’ Entering Class is High Achieving

This fall, 290 freshmen arrived on the Millsaps College campus on August 22. The class of 2013 is consistent with the high academic profile Millsaps has traditionally maintained.

Out-of-state students make up 58 percent of the freshman class and represent nearly every region of the country including Colorado, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Ohio and Texas. Sixty-two percent of the class graduated from a public high school. The freshmen are joined by international students from China, England, India, Germany and Ireland.

Millsaps Students

The class is 58 percent male and 42 percent female. Minority students make up 24 percent of the class, making it one of the largest percentages of entering minorities in the College’s history. Minority students are expected to feel right at home - Millsaps was recently praised by The Princeton Review as one of the Top 20 colleges in the country for “Lots of Race/Class Interaction” in the 2010 edition of its guidebook The Best 371 Colleges.

Academically, the students have an average ACT score of 26 and an average SAT score of 1154. Seventy-nine students are Top Scholars, students considered for the most generous Millsaps scholarships based on scholastic and leadership qualities. The class includes five valedictorians, four salutatorians and five National Merit semifinalist or commended students.
