JACKSON
-- The
premiere of WLBT’s season
long football show “Sports Journal Tailgate” debuts
Saturday, Aug. 26, with live coverage of Millsaps football
to be featured.
The “Sports Journal Tailgate” show features
four-year football schools and normally airs on Sunday
evenings. Saturday’s show kicks off the fall and
will preview the upcoming 2006 football season.
“We have a lot to prove,” junior defensive lineman
Casey Younger said. “Coach DuBose has brought us
a lot of unity we didn’t have last year and because
of his experience, he’s going to bring us a lot
of success.”
The Majors, picked to finish third in the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference last season, couldn’t bring
things together and finished last in the conference with
a 1-5 record.
“The sky is the limit this year,” junior running
back Tyson Roy said. “With the leadership of DuBose,
we can take it to the top. He demands a lot of respect
and in turn, we give it right back. Our team unity is
great and we’re starting to use our talent more
and spread it around the field.”
The Majors open the 2006 campaign with a Sept. 2 showdown
against cross-town rival Mississippi College at 7 p.m.
at Harper Davis Field.
