The Majors head coach Jim Page gambled by pitching freshman righthander David Hutzel, but Hutzel, who threw a complete game shutout in the SCAC Tournament dazzled, going 6.2 innings allowing three hits and three runs, all unearned. A throwing error charged to Hutzel allowed a run to score. Bulldog starter Craig Reynolds went 7.2 innings allowing seven hits and three runs to the Majors.

Sophomore Jason Hadley and freshman Hunter Abrams both went 3-3 with three singles including a walk each. Hadley scored twice, once when he stole home against lefthanded reliever Jeff Nokovich and Abrams had eight assists at third base. Ryan Skertich scored on a delayed steal and catcher Sherwood Collette drove in a run for the Majors.

The Majors lose seniors Collette, Rob Elling, Doug Garner, Skertich, Ben Wilson. Elling, Skertich, and Garner were named to the All-SCAC first team and Wilson was named Honorable Mention.
