Garner, Phillips Earn SCAC Honors

Phillips, a senior centerfielder from Moss Point, Miss., has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, February 23 through Sunday, February 29.

He hit .400 (2-5) with two runs scored and four RBI as the Majors swept a weekend series with Hendrix College. Millsaps defeated the Warriors by identical 10-0 scores on Saturday and Sunday. Stuart had a two-run, third inning home run on Sunday that jump-started a five-run inning and gave the Majors an early 7-0 lead. He had two hits in two trips that day, driving in two runs, scoring two runs and walking twice. He also made a couple of dazzling, over-the-shoulder running grabs in center.

Garner, a senior right-hander from Mobile, Ala., has been selected SCAC Baseball Co-Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 16 through Sunday, February 22.
In his only outing of the week, he picked up the win as he went 6 2/3 scoreless innings in the Majors' 10-0 shutout of Southwestern. He scattered 6 hits and struck out 3.

Garner was also selected the SCAC Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 23 through Sunday, February 29. It is the second consecutive week he has been honored.

In his only outing of the week, Doug picked up the win as he hurled 5 scoreless innings of 2-hit ball and ran his record to 3-1 in the Majors' 10-0 shutout of Hendrix. He did not walk a batter and fanned nine.
