BLAZERS REMAIN UNDEFEATED
IN 'MALONEY SERIES', DEFEAT MAJORS 7-6
The Blazers (13-8, 4-5) defeated the visiting Millsaps College Majors
(13-5, 9-2) 7-6 on Tuesday, moving to 2-0 in the "Cowboy Maloney
Trophy" Series.
The Majors jumped
out to an early 2-0 lead in the first, before Jonathan Robertson's
triple in the 2nd plated courtesy runner Shawn Anderson, cutting
the lead to 2-1. Millsaps pushed across three more runs in the top
of the top of the 3rd, building a brief 5-1 lead.
The Blazers

in part to Scott Ewing's two-run single along with RBI singles from
Ricky Breazeale and Buddy Wyrick.
Millsaps managed
to tie the game in the 4th, and the game remained tied until the
bottom of the seventh inning. Blaise King scampered home with what
would prove to be the winning run on Breazeale's double in the left-center
gap.
King, Breazeale
and Wyrick each collected two hits in the game for Belhaven. Ricky
Owens collect three singles in the game, going 3-for-4 at the plate.
Kyle Buescher
(1-0) earned his first collegiate win, pitching one inning in relief
of starter Larkin Braxton. Buescher struck out one of the three
batters he faced in the seventh inning. Braxton allowed three earned
runs in six innings of work. He walked three batters and struck
out seven.
