MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After falling to SCAC opponent Rhodes College on Saturday, the Majors rallied to victory on Sunday, Mar. 12. The Majors defeated the Lynx by a final score of 22-11; splitting the weekend series one game a piece.
Todd Kindler was the starting pitcher for the Majors, going five innings, giving up nine hits and three runs. In the opening inning, Millsaps fell behind Rhodes who took a one run lead after the first. The Majors took over the ballgame, however in the second inning of play, scoring four runs. The Majors began the top of the second with a Derrik Boland walk, Hunter Abrams then singled for Millsaps. Boland was eventually thrown out at home, but Abrams scored on a wild pitch. John Pacillo, Hayes Brian and Nick Crawford also scored in the inning, giving Millsaps the 4-1 advantage.
Throughout the remainder of the contest, Millsaps remained dominate, scoring one run in the third and six more in the fourth. The Lynx answered in the fifth through eight innings, scoring a total of ten runs in four innings of play, but this was not enough to keep them in the ballgame. Millsaps remained successful at the plate, never allowing Rhodes to close the scoring gap.
The Majors were led offensively designated hitter Derrik Boland. Boland was 2-4 at the plate (2 home runs) with 5 runs batted in. Left fielder Jason Hadley was 3-4 with 5 RBI.
Of the five pitchers Millsaps used in the contest, Todd Kindler took the win for the Majors. The win brings Millsaps’ record to 13-4 (7-3).
Millsaps will next face Huntingdon College on Wednesday, March 15 at Twenty Field. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.
