The Millsaps Majors(6-3, 3-2)
baseball team got four RBIS on the night from Nick Crawford and
John Pacillo and three RBIs from Hunter Owen and Luke Morrow as
they took two from the Rust Bearcats, 9-0 and 17-1 Thursday night
at Twenty Field.
Game one starter Brandon Ingram no-hit the
Bearcats through four innings. The freshman struck out six and walked
one. Jay Hollenbeck surrendered two hits, but allowed no runs in
the Majors 9-0 win.
Crawford drove in two from the leadoff spot
and Taylor Jones drove in two runs in his lone at-bat of the game.
Centerfielder Ryan Skertich has hit safely in every game this season
so far.
Rust managed a run in the top of the first
inning in game two off starter James Slater, but the freshman pitched
out of the jam. Hunter Abrams got the win when the Majors scored
eight runs in his two innings of work. Brad Mizerany and Quinn Salmon
threw an inning each in the win.
The Majors banged out 17 runs on 19 hits
led by Pacillo and Owen. Catcher Nicky Prather got his first hit
of the season and finished 3-3 with two RBIs and Garner Wetzel went
2-3 with an RBI.
The Majors lead the SCAC in triples with
nine after Crawford picked up another tonight. The Majors also lead
or are in the top three in the conference in batting average, onbase
percentage, slugging percentage, RBIs, home runs, total bases, hit
by pitch, stolen bases, but they rank near the bottom in every major
pitching category.
