Majors roll up two on Rust Bearcats Thursday

The Millsaps Majors(6-3, 3-2) baseball team got four RBIS on the night from Nick Crawford and John Pacillo and three RBIs from Hunter Owen and Luke Morrow as they took two from the Rust Bearcats, 9-0 and 17-1 Thursday night at Twenty Field.

Game one starter Brandon Ingram no-hit the Bearcats through four innings. The freshman struck out six and walked one. Jay Hollenbeck surrendered two hits, but allowed no runs in the Majors 9-0 win.

Crawford drove in two from the leadoff spot and Taylor Jones drove in two runs in his lone at-bat of the game. Centerfielder Ryan Skertich has hit safely in every game this season so far.

Rust managed a run in the top of the first inning in game two off starter James Slater, but the freshman pitched out of the jam. Hunter Abrams got the win when the Majors scored eight runs in his two innings of work. Brad Mizerany and Quinn Salmon threw an inning each in the win.

The Majors banged out 17 runs on 19 hits led by Pacillo and Owen. Catcher Nicky Prather got his first hit of the season and finished 3-3 with two RBIs and Garner Wetzel went 2-3 with an RBI.

The Majors lead the SCAC in triples with nine after Crawford picked up another tonight. The Majors also lead or are in the top three in the conference in batting average, onbase percentage, slugging percentage, RBIs, home runs, total bases, hit by pitch, stolen bases, but they rank near the bottom in every major pitching category.
