PENSACOLA, Fla. – Senior forward Edrick
Montgomery posted the 20th double-double of his career with 11 points and 14 boards
and all five starters scored in double figures, as Millsaps topped homestanding
Pensacola Christian 78-66 to sweep the season series.
Millsaps (5-1) jumped out to a 10-point halftime lead, 41-31, and held
off a strong second half surge from the Eagles, led by Josh Hershberger's
14 points and seven boards.
The Majors connected on 7-of-20 shots from beyond the arc, including
three from senior guard Lorenzo Bailey who is now just 16 3-point buckets
away from becoming the school's career leader with 181. He currently
holds the career record in attempts with 441.
Senior forward Rodney Rogan and junior guard Chris
Sanders added 14 points
apiece on a combined 13-of-22 shooting, while Bailey had 13 and Deonte
Oscar chipped in 12. Junior forward Russell
Booth also added a career-high
seven points in 12 minutes off the bench.
For PCC (3-3), Marques Goetsch hit 4-of-8 from 3-point land to add to
his team and game-high 16 points, while Hershberger added 14 off the
bench and Ryan Vanderboegh chipped in 11 points, four assists, two blocks
and two steals.
Millsaps will wrap up a four-game road swing tomorrow at Huntingdon College,
facing off with the Hawks at 3 p.m. in Roland Arena.
