Majors Defeat Hendrix on the Road

JACKSON, Miss. —The Millsaps College Majors traveled to Arkansas this weekend to take on SCAC opponent, Hendrix College.

Millsaps took a 10-0 early lead over the Warriors to begin the game as point guard Allen Odum scored four early points. The Majors were able to maintain a large advantage over the Warriors throughout the remainder of the first half, taking a 45-30 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.

The Millsaps lead increased to over 20 points early in the second half before Hendrix began to chip away at the Major’s advantage. Hendrix player Michael Bennett stepped up for the Warriors, making a three-point shot, layup and free throws, helping Hendrix cut the Majors lead to eight points with 7:30 left to play in the game.

In the final minutes of the game, the Majors advantage grew to nine and dwindled to one, but Hendrix was never able to take the lead. Millsaps won the game 82-78.

In the contest, senior Tyler Warren led the Majors with 19 points, followed by Lorenzo Bailey with 17. The win brings the Majors record to 14-10 (7-6). They will finish the regular season of play on Sunday at Rhodes College.
