Majors defeat Hendrix in first home game of season

The Millsaps Majors played in their second overtime game in a row on Fri.,
Jan. 6. The team defeated Hendrix College for their first conference victory
of the season.
The contest remained close throughout with the Majors holding no more than
an eight point lead in the first half and no more than a ten point lead
in the second. With a three point Millsaps lead, and 9 seconds to go, Edrick
Montogomery stole the ball from Hendrix, and drove the length of the court.
He attempted a dunk which hit the rim and allowed Hendrix to recover the
ball. Hendrix's Matt Secrease then hit a three point shot, with only three
seconds remaining, to tie the score and force overtime.
The Majors came out
strong in the overtime period, with Millsaps quickly building a lead of
77-71. Hendrix
never could catch up to the Majors’ progression,
and Millsaps won the game by a score of 84-78.
Senior Tyler Warren
had a strong game for the Majors, scoring 27 points and garnering three
rebounds. Edrick Montgomery also performed well, scoring
22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for Millsaps.
