First Half Woes Continue as Majors Fall 69-46 to 'Roos
Millsaps will close out a three-game road swing on Monday at Dallas

January 13, 2008

SHERMAN, Texas For the second-straight game on a three-game road trip, Millsaps scored just 15 points in the first half and fell behind by double digits at the break, falling by double figures for the fifth-straight game in a 69-46 loss at Austin College.

Millsaps (2-10, 0-5 SCAC) hit just 6-of-24 attempts from the floor in the first half for 25 percent shooting, while the host 'Roos shot 41 percent including 5-of-13 from 3-point range.

Austin College (3-11, 2-3 SCAC) won its second SCAC game in three tries with three scorers in double figures, led by Maegan Fitzgerald with 19 points, Amber Stafford with 14 points and Katy Williams with 12 points and a game-high 15 boards.

The 'Roos never trailed in the game and closed the first half on a 22-6 run after Millsaps closed the gap to within two at 11-9, using eight of Fitzgerald's 19 points during that stretch.

Millsaps shot the ball a little better in the second half (33 percent) but couldn't cut into AC's lead until the final minutes of the game, using 10 of junior Crystal Dickerson's team-high 18 points in a span of 4:11.

Junior LaReina Adams added 15 points for the Majors to go along with five rebounds and four assists, while Tiffany Whitmore chipped in eight boards, six rebounds and a career-high three blocks on an off-shooting night.

Millsaps will close out a three-game road stretch on Monday at the University of Dallas with tipoff set for 3 p.m. at the Maher Center. The Majors knocked off the Lady Crusaders earlier this season in Jackson, 57-41, for one of their two wins on the year.
