JACKSON – Three
scorers notched double figures for Rhodes, led by senior Ashley
Farrell, and the Lady Lynx held Millsaps to a season-low 26 percent
shooting to stay alive in the SCAC Tournament hunt
with a 62-48 road win at the Hangar
Dome on Friday evening.
Millsaps' Crystal
Dickerson held Farrell, Rhodes' leading scorer at 17.4 ppg,
to just
two points
in the first half before the Collierville, Tenn., senior
picked up 11 points in the second on 4-of-9 shooting to finish
with a game-high 13 on the night.
Rhodes (9-10, 2-7 SCAC East) shot
a stifling 50 percent in the first period to finish at 42 percent
for the game, while holding Millsaps (5-14, 2-8 West) to just
26 percent shooting.
In an exciting first half of action,
the teams traded eight leads and were deadlocked five times before
the Lady Lynx took a 1-point lead, 34-33, at the break and never
looked back.
Millsaps couldn't find its rhythm
in the frame en route to hitting 6-of-30 attempts and was held
without a field goal the final 3:20 as they dropped their second-straight
game in league action to dim a shot at the fourth and final playoff
spot in the SCAC West.
Junior Jessica
Bowie picked up her
fourth double-double of the year with 10 points and 12 rebounds
in the loss, while freshman Ronda Webb added 12 points and LaReina
Adams had 10 boards.
The Majors will continue a five-game
homestand on Sunday at 1 p.m., playing host to SCAC-provisional
member Birmingham-Southern. |
