JACKSON -- Rhodes
College held Millsaps to 15 second half points and benefited
from four different scorers in double figures in a 17-point
win on Saturday afternoon in the Lady Majors' final regular
season and home
game of the
2006-07
campaign.
Millsaps held a 29-27 halftime margin on 38 percent shooting
and tough defense, but it was the Lady Lynx who took control
of the game after intermission and went on a 24-6 run to open
the second half.
The Majors were held to a season-low 17 percent (4-of-23) shooting in
the second half, including 2-for-11 from beyond the arc and
5-of-12 from the charity stripe in their ninth straight loss
to end the season.
The absence of "Mrs. Double Double", forward LaReina
Adams who
was forced to sit out on a season-ending ACL injury a week
ago, proved to be key with the sophomore averaging a team-best
13 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest.
Rhodes (15-9, 7-7 SCAC) was led by Crystal Jessee who notched
a team
and game-high 17 points and 10 boards. Kristen Lytle
(12), Ashley Farrell (12) and Becky Atnip (10) were the other
Lady Lynx in double figures.
Senior Deborah Sturgis led all Majors with 11
points and 11 rebounds in her final game in a Millsaps uniform,
while fellow seniors Leslie Frese and Allison Sturgis combined
for nine points and four rebounds.
The Lady Lynx will open SCAC Tournament play next week as an
underdog against Trinity, while the Majors' season comes to
a close.
