Chatman, Millsaps Partner in Maximum Effort Basketball Camp
Girls ages 12-18 welcome Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Maximum Effort Basketball Camp Registration Form

September 6, 2007

JACKSON -- Former head coach Pokey Chatman of the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers and her staff will be welcomed in the Millsaps College Hangar Dome on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., hosting a one day, two session Maximum Effort Basketball Camp for girls ages 12-18.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for recruiting and for our women’s basketball program,” Millsaps second-year head coach Mary Bolton and her staff agreed. “Being able to host an event like this and to partner with an organization of this caliber is a great movement for women’s basketball in the state of Mississippi and surrounding areas.”

Instructors will include former LSU assistant coach Christie Sides, All-American LaTasha Dorsey, All-SEC selection Barbara Henderson and founder coach Pokey Chatman – leader of four-consecutive NCAA Women’s Final Four appearances and newest head coach of the professional women’s basketball team Spartak in Moscow, Russia.

“To work with an experienced coaching staff and for them to consider Millsaps College is a great privilege,” Bolton said. “Having Pokey and her staff at the College should bring a lot of buzz around the community and new excitement for the 2007-08 women’s basketball season.”

The camp will focus on position specific techniques designed to elevate the level of play. Campers should come prepared for extensive fundamental drills for enhanced offensive and defensive performance in both perimeter and post positions. There will also be specialized intensive work for those at the point guard position.

Camp registration will begin Saturday, Sept. 15 at 8:00 am and continue until 9:00 am. Cost for the camp is $80 per camper if registered before Sept. 1 and $110 for "walk-ups" on the day the camp begins. Cost includes Saturday lunch (included in camp costs), camp t-shirt and seminar.

In addition to campers, coaches are also welcomed to attend camp, sit in on a recruiting seminar and be a part of a coaching clinic put on by coach Chatman FREE of charge.
