Lady Majors win at Rust College
(Ashley Wilbourn)
The Millsaps College Lady Majors improved their record to 3-1 on Tuesday night
as they defeated Rust College by a score of 70-65.
In the contest, Millsaps was able to improve in the areas where they have
been struggling all season, specifically their field goal percentage. In the
first half, the women shot 46.2 percent, including 54.5 percent from the three-point
line. Although they did not shoot quite as well in the second half, the team
was able to maintain a 40.7 field goal percentage, averaging to 43.4 for the
game.
Rust College played a strong game, but the Lady Majors used an effective defensive
strategy to stay ahead in the contest. Millsaps went in at the half with a
40-34 lead and was able to maintain the lead throughout the second in order
to win the game.
Millsaps was led in the contest by Miranda Rosar, Lindsey Alderman and Jessica
Bowie. Rosar had 16 points and 7 rebounds in the battle while Alderman had
14 points, including three three-point shots. Bowie had 13 points and four
rebounds for the Lady Majors.
Millsaps will next play on Dec. 11 at Birmingham Southern.
