The Lady Majors (8-9, 3-5)
struggled on the road this past weekend while many players are coming
off injuries sustained in the previous weekend games.
The Lady Majors are looking
forward to their final seven games, four of which are at home, including
six against SCAC opponents. A Tuesday night tune-up at Rust College preludes
the Trinity/Southwestern match-ups set for Friday and Sunday.
The Lady Majors have
tried to operate out of set plays after running the motion offense all
season due to several players out or playing less minutes due to injuries.
The set style of play lends itself to good shooters like forward Leslie
Frese.
Although the Lady
Majors have lost four stright, including three in SCAC play, Frese has
managed to raise her level of play well above her season numbers of five
points and five rebounds per game.
The sophomore scored
16 points against Hendrix pulling down seven rebounds and against Rhodes
on Sunday, Frese had eight points and seven boards. She also totaled four
assists and four steals in the two weekend contests.
Miranda Rosar was
held scoreless against Hendrix after pulling down ten points and 11 rebounds
against Rhodes on Friday. Floor leader Jillian Compton played 30 minutes
Sunday showing that she may be back to 100 percent by the weekend. Team
assist leader, Sara Greer's broken finger, suffered two weeks ago, is
healing well. Greer played significant minutes this weekend.
Trinity University,
currentley second place in the SCAC, will visit the Hangar Dome on Friday
Feb. 4 and Southwestern, who is currently one game back of the Lady Majors,
will be in Jackson on Sunday.
