Millsaps Hosts "Take A Kid to the Game Day"
Millsaps Invites You to Attend Its "Take A Kid to the Game" Program
Presented to the Jackson-Metropolitan Area

January 11, 2007

JACKSON -- Come visit the Hangar Dome on the campus of Millsaps College on Friday, Jan. 26, as the Majors play host to the visiting Centre College Colonels, where all area youth are invited to attend its upcoming scheduled Take A Kid to the Game Day.

Kids will have an opportunity to experience the college gameday atmosphere when Millsaps hosts NCAA Basketball’s 11th annual Take A Kid to the Game (TAKG) day celebration. Youth of all ages as well as all adults will receive free admission to watch the Millsaps Majors take on the Centre Colonels.

Millsaps is hosting one of more than 700 games that will be played across the nation this season as part of the Take A Kid to the Game program. This project is a grass roots initiative that attracts the nation’s youth and encourages adults to take kids to area college basketball games.

“We are pleased to extend the invitation to the community as we invite adults to bring children to experience a collegiate athletic event,” athletic director and head men’s basketball coach Tim Wise said.

“It is our hope that there will be a record turn out as more and more children are able to take advantage of this truly memorable experience and worthwhile program. Millsaps is excited about the intense basketball action that you will have a chance to be apart of.”

NCAA Basketball is a national sponsor of the Take A Kid to the Game program. To learn about other NCAA Basketball initiatives, please visit www.ncaa.org/bkbmarketingresource.org for more information.

TAKG is a grassroots marketing campaign created by Host Communications, Inc. to encourage alumni and fans to take their kids out to stadiums and arenas to experience intercollegiate athletics.

Tickets for this special game as well as ALL home basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, volleyball and soccer games are free of charge.

The women’s game tips off at 6 p.m. with the men’s game to follow immediately after at 8 p.m. Kids will have the opportunity to enjoy a fan fare from 5 – 6 p.m., while door prizes and other chances to win prizes will be available throughout the event.

The first 25 kids in attendance will receive a Millsaps College t-shirt (Limited sizes available in: Youth S, Youth M, Youth L and M) and a gift bag full of surprises.
