Martha McDaniel's 18 points, including three 3-pointers, and eight rebounds
lead the Lady Majors (2-3,0-0 SCAC) all-out assualt of the Huntingdon
Hawks Wednesday night in a 70-57 win in the Hangar Dome.
Down 30-29 at the half, the Lady Majors stormed out to a early halfime
advantage and lead by as much as ten points in the early minutes of the
second half.
Jillian Compton's layup with 5:20 remaining gave the Majors a 14-point
advantage and Miranda Rosar's two free throws increased the lead to 16
with 2:28 left to play.
McDaniel's jumphook from the free throw line with 16 seconds left was
quickly followed by a Hawks jumper by Katy Harmon to end the game at 70-57
and give the Lady Majors their second win of the early season.
Rosar finished with 12 points and nine rebounds, Compton had 11 points,
including three 3-pointers, five assists, two boards, and two steals.
Leslie Frese just missed a double-double with nine points and ten boards.
McDaniel also had one block, two assists and two steals.
Sara Greer had six points and six assists as she moved into sole possession
of fifth place in career assists with 236. Next on the list is 2004 Millsaps
College Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Felecia Lofton, at 256. Greer is
averaging over four assists per game in 2004-05.
The Lady Majors open the conference season this weekend at home against
Oglethorpe University at 1 p.m. The men play immediately afterwards at
