Lady Majors Fall
to Rust to Initiate Season at Huntingdon Tournament

The Millsaps College Lady Majors basketball team faced their first foe of
the season on Nov. 18 at the Huntingdon Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama.
. In the match-up against Rust College, Millsaps lost by a score of 55-46.
The Lady Majors jumped off to the early two point lead, holding on to their
2-0 advantage for two and a half minutes until Rust College got on the board
with the basket and the foul. Rust took the lead 3-2 and continued to pull
away from Millsaps until the midpoint of the first half.
After Rust built their lead to an 18-8 advantage, the Lady Majors began to
their comeback. Crystal Dickerson led the way for Millsaps in the drive as
Millsaps got back in the ballgame, bringing the score to 21-21 with 5:02 left
in the half. At halftime, the two colleges went to their locker rooms with
a tied scored of 27-27.
Rust College pulled away early in the second half, immediately making a three
point shot in the first minute. The Lady Majors struggled in getting their
shots to fall, allowing Rust to build up a 42-31 lead with 11:32 left to play.
The Lady Majors were able to bring the score closer at 45-41, but in the end,
Rust College was too much for the team to handle. Rust took the victory, giving
Millsaps an early season record of 0-1.
For the Lady Majors, Senior Miranda Rosar led the way with 13 points and 13
rebounds. Crystal Dickerson had nine points for the team, and Leslie Frese
had ten rebounds. The team will play again on Nov. 19 in the tournament.
