Lady Majors struggle in SCAC season opener

The Millsaps College Lady Majors lost their SCAC season opener
on Tuesday to the Oglethorpe Petrels by a score of 66-56.
Oglethorpe quickly built an early lead against Millsaps, beginning
the game with a 14-2 advantage. The Lady Majors were forced to
fight back for the remainder of the game. The first half was
a continued struggle, with the Stormy Petrels building their
lead to an 18 point advantage.
By the halftime break, the Lady Majors had cut that lead in
half. The two teams went to their respective locker rooms with
a score of 33-24.
Oglethorpe built a large lead in the second half as well. Midway
through the half, the Stormy Petrels held a 22 point advantage
over the Lady Majors. Millsaps was able to decrease the lead
throughout the remainder of the game, but they never mounted
a substantial comeback, losing by ten points.
The Lady Majors struggled from the field throughout the game,
shooting only 30.6 percent. They went 0-10 from the three-point
line in the first half and 5-13 in the second.
Lindsey Alderman and Miranda Rosar led the way for Millsaps,
each scoring 12 points in the game. Alderman also had six rebounds
while Rosar had nine. The Lady Majors will get back on the court
on Jan. 6 at six p.m. at Millsaps.
