The University of Dallas beats Millsaps at home The University of Dallas edged out the Millsaps College Lady Majors in a close contest held on Tues., Jan. 10 in the Millsaps’ Hangar Dome. The Lady Majors held a lead over the University of Dallas in the first half, but they were unable to maintain this advantage in the second. The game was hard fought in the first half, with the University of Dallas shooting 34.8 percent from the field compared to the 40.7 percent shot by Millsaps. The University of Dallas held the largest advantage in the half – six points, but they were unable to hold this lead. The Lady Majors fought back and went into their locker room at the half with a 28-25 advantage. Millsaps quickly expanded their lead in the second half, pushing it up to an 11-point, 41-30 advantage with only 14:19 left in the game. The University of Dallas proved to be a resilient team, however, as they slowly cut the Millsaps’ lead, bringing the game to a 54-54 tie with a little over four minutes left in the game. In these final moments, Dallas took their first lead of the half, played strong defense and won the game by a score of 65-60. The loss brings the Lady Majors record to 6-7. Martha McDaniel scored 16 points and contributed eight rebounds to the losing effort for Millsaps. The Lady Majors will next play at Southwestern University on Jan. 13 at 6 p.m.
