JACKSON, Miss. — As the regular season winds to a close, the Millsaps College Lady Majors realize the importance of each game they play. In facing off against, the visiting Lady Tigers of Trinity (16-6 (8-4)) on Sun., Feb. 12, the Lady Majors knew they would be forced to play one of the best games of their season in order to be victorious.
Trinity began the game strong, shooting 50 percent in the first half of play. They quickly built a nine point, 19-10 lead over the Lady Majors by the mid-point of the first. Millsaps struggled in shooting throughout this first half of action, only shooting 34.8 percent. At the break, Trinity led the Lady Majors by a score of 35-29.
In the second half of play, Millsaps attempted to make a comeback, but the Lady Tigers were too strong. The nine point lead which Trinity held at the beginning of the second had increased to a 20 point lead by the 14:07 mark.
Millsaps managed to increase their field goal percentage to 44 percent, but it was not enough to win the game. Trinity went on to defeat Millsaps by a score of 77-60.
For the game, Miranda Rosar led the Lady Majors with 17 points. Lindsay Alderman followed with 14.
The loss brings the team’s record to 8-14 (3-9). Millsaps will take the rest of the week off before resuming SCAC play on the road this weekend. |
