CLINTON -- The Millsaps cross country team competed well at the Mississippi College Invitational last weekend, despite the fact that half of the athletes went the wrong way the beginning of the race.
"All of our athletes met their objective and broke their
personal bests on the course," head coach David Rop said.
Travis Tutor improved by cutting a solid five minutes off his previous time of 36 minutes two weeks ago on the same course, while Sam Gay reduced his previous time of 29 minutes to 26:50. Taylor Weglicki, Lloyd Gray and Will Benton competed well too, all breaking their personal records in the 8 km race.
On the women's side, only three ladies competed in the 6 km race, as Erin Sanford didn’t compete due to sickness. Anna Allred, Maria Greene and Ivy Settlemires all competed well, with Settlemires leading the Majors with a time of 27:50 followed by Allred and Greene.
The team will compete again Saturday, Oct. 21 in Clinton and then wrap up the season at the SCAC Championships in Danville, Ky., the following week.
