SUWANEE,
Ga. – Grant Conliffe of Centre College and Juan
Joseph of Millsaps College have been named the SCAC Football
Co-Offensive Players of the Week for
games
played
Saturday,
September 6.
Joseph
earned his seventh Player of the Week award of his stellar career
thus far, needing just two more selections throughout the course
of the season to pass Millsaps' Kelvin Gladney (eight) for first
all-time.
Joseph
picked up right where he left off a year ago, completing
21-of-30 passes for 266 yards and three TDs in three quarters
of work to pace Millsaps to a convincing 42-6 win over rival
and 25th-ranked Mississippi College. He hit eight different receivers
on the night with Donnie Epps leading a corps of receivers with
four catches for 92 yards and two scores.
After
three-straight incompletions to open the game, Joseph settled
in to hit 16-straight receivers to erase
a 3-0 deficit and turn it into a 28-3 halftime lead. Joseph
also showed good movement in the pocket, getting sacked just
one time
while running for 31 yards on four carries (7.8 avg.). With
every pass thrown this season, Joseph will add to 1 of 4 Millsaps
career
records he holds.
Millsaps
will make the short trip across North State Street next weekend,
facing off with NAIA-foe Belhaven College. Kickoff at H.T. Newell
Field is set for 7 p.m. and can be watched live on www.atwsportscast.com courtesy
of the Millsaps College sports information department.
