STERLING,
Va. – After tying a career-high with seven tackles
(five solo) and getting his hands on 1 of 13 passes defended
for
Millsaps on the night in a 42-6 home opening win over Mississippi
College, senior DB Michael Sims has been named to the D3football.com
National Team of the Week.
The
award for Sims is the first weekly award of any kind in his solid
career thus far, having played in all 30 career games since his
freshman season in 2005. A product of Louisville High School,
Sims has tallied 84 tackles (44 solo), 6.5 tackles-for-loss and
picked off five
total
passes.
The
Millsaps secondary is one of the best in all of Division III,
ranking second in the country last season in pass efficiency
defense, fifth in scoring defense and eighth in turnovers gained.
Millsaps
will make the short trip across North State Street next weekend,
facing off with NAIA-foe Belhaven College. Kickoff at H.T. Newell
