STERLING, Va. - After
helping lead the Majors to a solid defensive day against Lincoln
University this past weekend, Shawn Gillenwater has been named to
the d3football.com Team of the Week as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Gillenwater led a defense that held the Blue Tigers to 204 total
yards and only 22 net rushing yards. He had eight tackles (six solo),
four tackles for a loss (minus-42 yards), two sacks, a forced fumble
and fumble recovery.
Other Millsaps notable defensive performances for the weekend were
Lee Klein’s 11 tackles, Colby Langston’s nine, Canaan
Farris with six and Keith Naccari who chipped in with five and two
sacks.
Millsaps
will play its fifth home game in six weeks, when they host Centre
College in its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener at
Harper Davis Field on Saturday, Oct. 7. Game time is slated
for a 1 p.m. start.
