Joseph Lands on Football Gazette Team of the Week
Junior quarterback becomes first Major in 2007 to earn weekly award via Don Hansen

October 4, 2007

NORTH AURORA, Ill. -- Two days after Hardin-Simmons' quarterback Justin Feaster beat out Millsaps' Juan Joseph for D3football.com National Team of the Week Honors at the quarterback slot, the duo team up on Don Hansen's Football Gazette National Team of the Week for Week 5.

A total of 12 players are selected each week at various positions with Matt Penz from St. Olaf College and Jericho Toilolo of California Luthern University joining Feaster and Joseph on the list at the quarterback slot.

The Edgard, La., native tossed five touchdown passes for the second time in two seasons and hooked up with double-digit (11) receivers for the fourth time in as many games, completing 32 of 56 passes for a career-high 475 yards.

For the season, Joseph is leading the SCAC and ranks fourth in the country in passing (336.2 ypg) while ranking first in the league in total offense (323.2 ypg) and third in pass efficiency (152.5 rating). He has thrown 15 TD passes against just two interceptions in four games.

Joseph becomes Millsaps' first selection to the Football Gazette Team of the Week this season after return specialist Chris Jackson earned second team honors and defensive back Marcus Harris was selected as an honorable mention at the end of the 2006 season.
