Joseph Earns SCAC Offensive POW Honors
Sophomore QB receives second consecutive weekly accolade

October 10, 2006

SUWANEE, Ga. -
For the second consecutive week and the third time this season, a Millsaps student-athlete has garnered weekly football honors in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Sophomore quarterback Juan Joseph improved on his league-leading numbers, completing 24 of 39 passes for 314 yards with three touchdowns and an interception, as the Majors won their first SCAC game of the season - a 38-12 victory over Centre.

Joseph, who also carried the ball once for 22 yards, eclipsed the 1,000-yard passing mark in just his fourth game. The sophomore connected with nine different receivers on the afternoon, including Chris Jackson who had six catches for 129 yards and a score.

For the season, Joseph has completed 74 of 128 passes for league-leading totals of 1,070 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also leads the league in total offense at 276.0 yards per game and is second in passing efficiency with a rating of 144.2.

After five consecutive home games, the Majors will finally get a chance to test themselves on the road, traveling to Sherman, Texas, this weekend to face off with SCAC newcomer Austin College at 1 p.m.  Millsaps will then return home the following week to host DePauw University at 1:30 p.m.
