DANVILLE,
Ark. -- Sophomore
Jack Rader posted a two-day score of 159, including a 77 on
Day 1, to help the Millsaps Majors to an eighth place
finish at the Hendrix Spring Classic in Danville last weekend.
Millsaps finished the tournament right where they did after
a Day 1 score of 326, carding a 335 on Sunday for an eighth
place finish.
Senior Chad Tobler from Hammond, La., led the way for the Majors
on Sunday, posting a score of 79 -- only 1 of 20 golfers
on the afternoon to
break 80.
Rader (pictured, bottom right) finished the tournament
in 26th place (77, 82 = 159), while Tobler (81, 79 = 160) and
junior
Michael
Ameen
(81, 81
= 162) rounded out the top three performances for Millsaps.
Other notables were Madison Field and Freddie Brackin, who
posted two-day scores of 180 and 181 respectively.
Ameen was also second in the tournament field in
birdies with
eight.
UT-Tyler proved to be too much for the 10-team field, carding
a two-day score of 601 to edge past McMurry University (603),
Harding University (607) and Texas Lutheran (607) for a first
place finish.
Tyler was led by Coy Beck, who posted scores of 69 and 72 to
take top individual honors.
Other participants included UT-Dallas (613), Mississippi College
(639), Louisiana College (656), the University of Dallas (694)
and tournament host Hendrix (741).
Millsaps' final spring event will take place at the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament in Georgetown,
Texas, held April 28-29.
