UT-Tyler Earns Hendrix Spring Classic Title
Millsaps' Rader places 26th out of 58 golfers

March 18, 2007

DANVILLE, Ark. -- Sophomore Jack Rader posted a two-day score of 159, including a 77 on Day 1, to help the Millsaps Majors to an eighth place finish at the Hendrix Spring Classic in Danville last weekend.

Millsaps finished the tournament right where they did after a Day 1 score of 326, carding a 335 on Sunday for an eighth place finish.

Senior Chad Tobler from Hammond, La., led the way for the Majors on Sunday, posting a score of 79 -- only 1 of 20 golfers on the afternoon to break 80.

Rader (pictured, bottom right) finished the tournament in 26th place (77, 82 = 159), while Tobler (81, 79 = 160) and junior Michael Ameen (81, 81 = 162) rounded out the top three performances for Millsaps. Other notables were Madison Field and Freddie Brackin, who posted two-day scores of 180 and 181 respectively.

Ameen was also second in the tournament field in
birdies with eight.

UT-Tyler proved to be too much for the 10-team field, carding a two-day score of 601 to edge past McMurry University (603), Harding University (607) and Texas Lutheran (607) for a first place finish.

Tyler was led by Coy Beck, who posted scores of 69 and 72 to take top individual honors.

Other participants included UT-Dallas (613), Mississippi College (639), Louisiana College (656), the University of Dallas (694) and tournament host Hendrix (741).

Millsaps' final spring event will take place at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament in Georgetown, Texas, held April 28-29.
