MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Sophomores Andres Colocho and Aaron Hyatt netted their first and second goals of the season in the first half and senior Jake Milner recorded the fifth shutout of his career to help Millsaps pick up its first win of the year in a 2-0 win at Huntingdon.
Millsaps (1-3) lit up the scoreboard first in the 28th minute, using Hyatt's first assist of the year to find a streaking Colocho who beat Hawks goalkeeper Jesse Kehler.
The lead stretched out to 2-0 with Hyatt's second goal of the year in the 44th minute, taking advantage of a well played ball from junior Todd Schneck.
The Majors would hang onto that lead the remainder of the game, controlling Huntingdon in the second half en route to out shooting the Hawks 17-6 (11-3 shots-on-goal) for the game and earning four more corner kicks.
Milner picked up his first win of the year and fifth clean slate of his career after stopping three Hawks shots while Kehler was hit with the loss in a nine save night.
Millsaps will eye a second consecutive win on Sunday, traveling to LaGrange, Ga., to meet with the 0-3 Panthers in their home-opener.
