SUWANEE, Ga. -- After
back-to-back shutouts on the road over Huntingdon
and LaGrange to earn his fifth and sixth career clean slates, senior
goalkeeper Jake Milner has been named the SCAC's Co-Defensive Player
of the
Week
along
with
Centre's Chris Creger.
A product of Northwest Rankin High School and the Majors' senior
co-captain, Milner picked up three saves each in both Friday and
Sunday wins to move
into
a
four-way
tie
in the
league
in shutouts.
He
is also
currently fifth in the conference in saves-per-game (4.80) and
sixth in total saves (24) through five games.
Milner becomes Millsaps' first SCAC
Player of the Week selection on either side of the ball since Nathan
Guice
earned
the weekly
accolade in Week 2 of the 1994 season -- a span of nearly 13 seasons.
The Majors will try and extend a two-game win streak this weekend,
playing host to the nation's top-ranked team Trinity University
(6-0-0) in their conference and home-opener at 8 p.m. Friday at
Harper Davis Field.
The weekend concludes with a noon matchup against Southwestern
University on Sunday.
