D3kicks.com Selects Thompson for National Team of the Week
Sophomore midfielder from Memphis picks up first career weekly award

October 2, 2007

CHICAGO, Ill. -- After picking up the first point of his Millsaps career on Friday and scoring the first two goals of his career, including the game-winner, in a 3-1 conference win over Austin College on Sunday, sophomore midfielder Colin Thompson of Memphis, Tenn., has been selected by D3kicks.com to the National Team of the Week for Week 5.

Thompson picked up five points in a weekend split for the Majors, assisting Todd Schneck in the 85th minute on Friday that sent the game into overtime and netting two goals in the first half that contributed to Millsaps getting its first SCAC win in 16 matches dating back to 2005.

On Sunday, Thompson's goal in the 27th minute off an assist from Corey Beaumont broke a scoreless tie and gave Millsaps an early cushion that they would never surrender. He added another in the 41st minute off an assist from Schneck.

Sunday's match concluded a four-game homestand at Harper Davis Field, as the Majors will hit the road for their next two contests, facing off with the top two teams in the SCAC in Centre College and DePauw University.
