Haben, Baer Lift Panthers to 4-0 Victory over Majors
Birmingham-Southern picks up fifth win in seven games

October 14, 2007

JACKSON -- Junior midfielder Norman Baer picked up a goal and an assist and fellow junior Stefan Haben added two goals and an assist in a five-point afternoon to help the visitors from Birmingham-Southern to a 4-0 win over Millsaps at Harper Davis Field on Saturday.

Baer's goal in the 27th minute broke open a scoreless match, as the native of Germany took a nice cross in front of the box from Haben to drill it in the back of the net to beat Majors' keeper Jake Milner.

Milner made several spectacular saves leading up to the first goal, including a full extension save off a shot from Baer in the 8th minute, en route to a 12 save performance on the afternoon despite the loss. It marked Milner's sixth double-digit save effort in seven games.

A goal from Haben (3) just before the halftime buzzer gave BSC a 2-0 edge, as he used a well executed cross from Jason Sabio to beat the keeper on a header.

A pair of early second half goals from Robert Geil (2) and Haben (4) in the 57th and 58th minute provided the final 4-0 margin for the Panthers as they won their fifth match in the last seven games to improve to 6-7 on the year.

BSC outshot the Majors 22-3 (16-1 shots-on-goal) and earned 13 corner kicks as Todd Schneck and Corey Beaumont fired the lone three shots for the home team.

Millsaps will make the trip to Memphis on Sunday afternoon to face off with Haverford College (1-9-1) on the campus of Rhodes College. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
