Haverford Nets Late Goal to Secure 3-2 Win
Millsaps entertains a week off before closing the home slate Oct. 28

October 15, 2007

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Despite a two goal performance from sophomore Brandon Mong of Millsaps, Haverford's D. Debucquoy-Dodley found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season to secure a come-from-behind 3-2 win on the campus of Rhodes Sunday.

Haverford (2-11-1) took an early 1-0 lead in the 8th minute when John Valantassis took advantage of a Chris Dioguardi assist to net his first goal of the year.

Millsaps (3-10, 1-5 SCAC) responded in the 22nd minute to tie the game at 1-1 on Mong's first goal of the afternoon and second of the season.

The game remained tied the final 23 minutes of the first half and seven minutes into the second half before a double assisted effort from Todd Schneck and Aaron Hyatt to Mong (3) gave the Majors their first lead of the game at 2-1.

Haverford and goalkeeper Jamey Applegate bounced right back after allowing the go ahead goal, using a well-timed goal from forward Eric Kissinger (3) in the 56th minute to knot the game at 2-2.

The two teams were on pace to a tie in regulation and the first of two overtime periods until a stunning unassisted goal from Debucquoy-Dodley (4) in the 87th minute spoiled any hopes of a draw or win for goalkeeper Jake Milner and the Majors.

Millsaps outshot Haverford 20-9 for the match, however, three of the Fords' seven shots-on-goal found the back of the net.

The Majors will try and bounce back in two weeks at home, finishing up their 2007 home slate with a Friday and Sunday matchup against Rhodes and Hendrix.
