Millsaps Earns 0-0 Stalemate on Senior Day
Milner stops penalty kick in double overtime to conserve tie

October 24, 2006

JACKSON --
In the final home soccer match of the 2006 season, Millsaps goalkeeper Jake Milner picked up one of his nine saves on the afternoon, stopping a Barlo Hardin penalty kick with 3:42 left in double overtime to send seniors Ben Buckner, Lee Pharr, Joseph Ingram and junior Oghale Ighoavodha out on top.

The numbers were identical in the stats and the only thing better than Millsaps picking up its first conference win, was picking up its first point in the SCAC standings with a tie.

Hendrix (6-6-2, 1-4-1 SCAC) narrowly out shot the Majors 15-13 (9-8 on shots-on-goal) and earned one corner kick more than Millsaps, 5-4. The two teams also combined for 35 fouls and three yellow cards.

Both Milner (nine saves) and Hendrix goalkeeper Dylan Rolleigh (eight saves) had strong games between the posts, with Milner coming up huge in sudden death overtime.

The Majors will be on the road their remaining three conference games, traveling to Rhodes, Oglethorpe and Sewanee to close out the season.
