Thibodeaux, Hill Named SCAC Co-Pitcher/Player of the Week
Sophomores earn first career weekly honors in Majors' weekend sweep

March 18, 2008

SUWANEE, Ga. – After going a perfect 7-0 in the Millsaps Softball Classic at Freedom Ridge Park last weekend to help the Majors improve to 10-7 overall, sophomores Kasey Thibodeaux and Sam Hill have been tabbed the SCAC Co-Pitcher and Player of the Week.

Thibodeaux continued her dominance in the circle for the Majors in Ridgeland, posting a 3-0 record with two complete game shutouts and a 1.22 ERA.

The sophomore from Youngsville, La., tossed a combined 23.0 innings, scattering 12 strikeouts against four walks while surrendering just six runs (four earned). Thibodeaux held opponents to a .188 batting average in 85 plate appearances and allowed only 16 hits to improve to 5-2 on the year with a 1.35 ERA.

Hill put in perhaps her best weekend in a Millsaps uniform this past weekend, hitting .577 from the plate (15-for-26) with 19 total bases, 12 runs scored, seven RBIs and four doubles to push her team-best average out to .473 through 17 games.

The sophomore from Birmingham, Ala., also carried a .731 slugging percentage and .621 on-base percentage. Hill currently leads the team in total bases (35), hits (26), runs (18), RBIs (14) and doubles (nine).

Millsaps is over the .500 mark for the first time since 2005 and is riding a 7-game winning streak – the longest since 2003. They will host SCAC East foe Centre College today and tomorrow in a 4-game series, the first games at home all season.
