SAN
ANTONIO, Texas -- Three
days removed from the SCAC Softball Championships hosted by
Trinity University, freshman third baseman Jennifer McKinley
and freshman shortstop Sam
Hill
were recognized for their individual efforts by
garnering 2007 All-SCAC Tournament Team accolades along with 10 other
student-athletes.
McKinley,
a native of Frisco, Texas, batted a clean .500 (6-for-12) with a team-leading
12 total bases, five RBIs and four runs scored while holding a 1.000
slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .500. She also hit
home runs No. 5 and 6 over the leftfield fence
in Saturday's
12-11 loss to Hendrix to tie an SCAC tournament
single-game record.
A product
of Birmingham, Ala., and 1 of 5 freshmen on this year's
squad,
Hill went 4-for-8 (.500) with four total bases, three RBIs, three
stolen bases in three attempts and one run. Hill also drew a pair of
walks and held a team-leading .636 on-base percentage.
The
pair become the first dual selections to the All-SCAC Tournament
Team since first baseman Amanda Stevens and designated hitter Kati
Fleming landed on the 2005 team.
Centre
led the way with four selections to the 2007 SCAC All-Tournament Team
while Trinity had three, DePauw University and Millsaps both
had two and Hendrix had one.
