STARKVILLE – Sophomore
infielder Sam Hill of Millsaps College picked up her first postseason
accolade of the 2008 season today after turning in solid numbers all
year long, earning Louisville
Slugger/NFCA
All-Atlantic Region Third Team honors by the league office. 
Hill becomes
the second selection from Millsaps in as many years, with fellow
sophomore Jen McKinley earning NFCA All-Atlantic Region First
Team honors in 2007.
A native
of Birmingham, Ala., Hill
led the SCAC in doubles (17)
and ranked third in the league in batting average (.426) and runs
(36), while leading the team in five statistical categories and posting
13 multi-hit and six multi-RBI games. She also carried a career-best,
11-game hitting streak during the season and only struck out nine times
in 115 at-bats.
In addition
to NFCA honors, Hill was named to the SCAC All-Tournament Team and
was the SCAC Co-Player of the Week in Week 4. She was also a nominee
for CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors with a 3.32
GPA in Biology. |
