SUWANEE,
Ga. --
In exclusive
voting by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's (SCAC) head
coaches, senior Josie Manley and freshman Jennifer McKinley have
been named to the 2007 All-SCAC First Team with fellow teammates
Sam Hill and Kasey Thibodeaux landing on the Second Team and Renee
Hebert and Tiffany Ladnier earning Honorable Mention recognition.
Now
a four-time All-SCAC selection having received First Team honors the
previous three seasons, Manley leaves the Majors with quite an act
to follow.
After
posting a .362 batting average in 34 games and driving in 17 runs off
38 hits, including six doubles and four triples, Manley is now
second on the SCAC career
list in RBIs (100), doubles (35) and triples (13) along with fourth
all-time in hits (156).
McKinley,
a 2007 SCAC All-Tournament Team, SCAC Offensive Player of the Week
and Louisville Slugger/NFCA First Team All-Atlantic Region selection
and
one of three
newcomers to garner all-conference recognition, is well on her way
to setting record marks.
The Frisco, Texas, native posted
mind-boggling numbers in her first season, tying for first in the SCAC
in doubles (13) while ranking second in
the league in home runs (6) and total bases (81) and third in batting
average (.417) and hits (50). She also recorded 16 multi-hit and nine
multi-RBI games, held a season-long 11-game hit streak and only struck
out six times in 120 at-bats.
Hill,
a product of Birmingham, Ala., and a selection to the 2007 All-SCAC
Tournament Team in her first season at shortstop,
posted a
.305 batting average
to go along
with 36 total bases, 18 RBIs, 14 runs, eight multi-hit and seven
multi-RBI games.
Thibodeaux
held opposing hitters in check (.198 BAA) in conference action to post
second team numbers along with Hill, posting a 2-2 record with a 0.90
ERA
in three complete game performances and two shutouts. The first-year
pitcher/infielder struck out 12 and only allowed four earned runs in
31 innings of work.
Hebert
posted her best numbers in three previous seasons en route to the first
All-SCAC recognition of her Millsaps career, sporting a .328
batting average to go along with 43 total bases, 24
runs and
11
RBIs
at catcher. The senior also had 11 multi-hit games, a season-long eight
game hit streak and a .966 fielding percentage.
Just
two seasons into a young career in the outfield for the Majors, Ladnier
surpasses Jessica Chisley of Centre College for first all-time in the
SCAC in stolen bases (46) after snagging 18 bases in 21 attempts (2nd,
SCAC) to gain honorable mention recognition. Noted as one of the top
centerfielders in the conference, Ladnier held a .925 fielding percentage
in 67 chances. |
