Lady Majors Split Series with Hendrix

JACKSON, Miss. -- After opening conference play with two wins on Saturday over Hendrix, the Lady Majors fastpitch team fell to Hendrix on Sunday in the last two games of the weekend series. The losses even Millsaps’ SCAC record to 2-2 on the season.

In the opening game of the Sunday double header, Millsaps pitcher Kyle Kurtz fell behind early, giving up three runs to the Lady Warriors in the first inning. In the top of the second, Millsaps skipper Joe Kinsella brought Erica Douglas in to pitch for Kurtz; Kurtz moved to first base. The Lady Majors was forced to try to catch up throughout the remainder of the first contest.

Millsaps was unable to garner any runs until the fifth inning when they pulled within one runs on a Jessica Clincy two run homerun.  Victoria Gibson, who had singled earlier in the inning also came  across the plate.  These were the only runs Millsaps managed on the day however.  Millsaps lost the first game by a final score of 3-2.

In the second game of the day, the Lady Majors were unable to produce any offense. The Lady Majors did record nine hits in the contest, but no runs to show for the effort. The Lady Warriors, however, put up three runs in the game to get the win. Millsaps falls to an 8-15 overall season record.
