SEWANEE, Tenn. — The Lady Majors softball team was eliminated from the SCAC Tournament by Hendrix College earlier today by a final score of 9-8. The loss marks the end of the 2006 Millsaps softball season. The Lady Majors finish with a season record of 12-28.
Millsaps started strong against Hendrix – heading into the later innings with a 5-2 lead. However, the Lady Majors could not hold on as Hendrix climbed back into the game and eventually took the lead and win in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Third basemen Josie Manley was 2 for 4 at the plate with 4 RBI’s including a bases clearing double in the top of the third inning. In her last game as Major, center fielder Christina Sharp was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Pitcher Erica Douglas fell to 12-23 on the season with the loss today. Douglas threw 6 2/3 innings and gave up nine runs (three earned) on 11 hits today. |
