ROCKCO WINS 2004 SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Robin Rockco, senior shortstop for the Millsaps softball team, has been voted the SCAC (Southern Collegiate Athletic Association) Offensive Player of the Year for 2004.

Rockco, a three-time all-SCAC selection, hit .376 (sixth in the SCAC) this season and led the league in runs scored with 39. She finished in the top six in the league in slugging percentage (.579), on-base percentage (.430), hits (50), doubles (12), home runs (5), runs batted in (38) and total bases (77). Rockco, from Gautier, Miss., leaves Millsaps as the league’s all-time leader in runs scored (104) and home runs (19) and is ranked in the SCAC career top 10 in batting average (.385 – seventh), hits (135 – second), doubles (30 - third) and RBI (93 – second). As a junior, she led the Majors to the 2003 SCAC championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
